Youth Exchange Report: Serbia 2013

During the summer of 2013 NIP sent a group of 6 participants to take part in a youth exchange in Serbia. The exchange was centred on the topic of green and social entrepreneurship and how people can take on these skills then apply it to their country and culture.

The English group set out on their travels on Thursday 25th of July, they flew from Heathrow airports inbound for Serbia’s capital city Belgrade. They then had to travel all day by bus and finally they arrived at their destination. Upon arrival they met with all the other organisations participants which included;

a group from Serbia, Ukraine, France, Italy and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Once acquainted with the other groups they were shown to there rooms and finally went to bed ready for the following

day. First thing upon waking up the next day was the heat, and in typical English style we complained about how it was too hot and then complained when it was too cold.

The pursuing days were spent in workshops about green entrepreneurship with each group contributing how their country goes about this issue.

During one of the days of the exchange the group had the chance to go in to the local city of Novi Sad (which is twinned with Norwich) and experienced the culture of Serbia, this involved site seeing and visiting the local park which had an uncanny identity similar to that of chapel field gardens, before later where all the groups met back at a restaurant and sat to have a meal together.

For the night of the English cultural evening, the group had decided to set the room out similar to that of pub, the tables were fitted with candles, nibbles and Robinsons fruit juice and a pub quiz and as a surprise to the other groups the English participants took part in a spice girls performance.to have a meal together.

The group landed back in the U.K on the 03/08/2013 after 9 days of fun and intercultural exchanges in Serbia and staying true to our country it rained upon arrival.
