EVS Diary: Nadin

Hello everyone!

My name is Nadin, I am 18 years old and I am from Austria! Right now I am doing the European Voluntary Service here in England, in the NewEcclesHallSchool. I´ve been here since October 2012 and I am going to finish my work in the end of July 2013.

In the NewEcclesHallSchool I am working as an assisting teacher; mostly in the Junior Department but also with some international students. I´m attending an English Course there where I am – together with my Spanish EVS colleague- preparing for our CAE exam in June, which I am extremely happy about!

I am boarding during the week in the school, where I get three meals a day and I also have a room for my own. At the weekends I share a small, but nice house in Norwich with an English boy and another Spanish EVS.

In October 2012 I and my two EVS colleagues attended an on arrival training in Exeter. We met other volunteers there and got useful information about being/working/living in the UK.

When the schools are closed for half term NIP usually hosts a Youth exchange. By now I was lucky enough to take part

in one. 60 people (from England, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary) spent one week together, discussing and learning about the EU and European programs.

I hope this made you interested about the European Voluntary Service and in the future you might also want to become a volunteer in a foreign country!
